We photograph everything (and regularly publish pictures on Facebook for everyone to enjoy!). From a sumptuous dessert to the Christmas tree, to the sleeping cat on the sofa, a new car, and a homemade dinner. We take pictures to make sure that, even if the details fade into our memory, an event remains immortalized.
Hua Yunqing immediately fell in love with his daughter Huahua when he held her in his arms for the first time, just after she was born in China in 1979. To immortalize their relationship, he made sure to take the same picture together, at the same place, near a lake in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, every year for 35 years.
The only picture he could not take was in 1988, as Huahua failed to join her family for their annual lake vacation. The clichés tell their life in the most endearing way, and it has become their personal family tradition.
This black and white photo, taken in 1980, is the first in the series. Hua stands upright, obviously a proud father, holding the little hand of her one-year-old daughter, Huahua, who smiles timidly at the goal.
